NPC’s should not see you super far away, they should trigger when you are close depending on their difficulty, or if you shoot at them, then have the ability to shoot far distances.
Its not immersive or fun getting shot by simple road AI through layers of cover.
A really good point that could ensure greater game enjoyment. This issue has two aspects: 1. AI accuracy which should realistically diminish with increasing distance (sometimes it feels like distance doesn’t matter to them). 2. AI should not be able to see through foilage, and should therefore stop shooting at a player hiding in bushes at e.g. 10 feet and more distance. This will probably be a quite difficult task to code, but would be an awesome feature. Furthermore, AIs are too quick to hide behind foilage/trees themselves at almost any distance the moment one aims at them.
The only type of bot that should be able to spot you from far away are the ones equipped with a mosin/vsd + a type of magnified scope (3.5x and above), that’s is realistic. However, the ability to automatically target your head despite being shot/behind foliage/in movement is NOT and that should be eliminated. If you stand still and the bot does it as well, there’s a 50/50 chance he hits you, but without the previous factors mentioned before. That would be balanced.

In fact, this is how it works. Different bots see you at different distances and depending on the environment, body position or movement speed, etc.
