Easy anticheat and linux/proton steamdeck support#806

As of right now deadside launches and runs reletivly stable on the steamdeck, but after playing for under a minute you get kicked from any server for anticheat violation.
When will we see officail deadside support for proton linux and when will we see deadside devs work with Easy anti cheat to recognize the steamdeck as ligitamate?

+1. The game runs great on Linux with Proton but I keep getting kicked out for “Easy Anticheat Violation”. It’s a relatively easy fix on the development side - looks like just a check a box in their EAC settings. Please fix so that non-windows users can enjoy the game

Adding for discussion, enabling Battleye for Linux and Steam Deck support would be a great move!

For the devs, here is the official documentation for enabling it, it’s quite easy and doesn’t require recompiling your game or even making a Linux build for it:

All the more relevant since Windows 10 is EOL and so many people are swapping to Linux like myself!

+1 on this commented on a similar ticket, it’s a pain trying to play having to make a kvm or dual boot just for this game

I’ve fully abandoned windows and really miss deadside. I’ve logged 1,773 hours in game to date but I cannot go back to windows. Please add native linux support.

I used to play this game every single day. Abandoned Windows and moved to SteamOS. Now I can’t play Deadside because they haven’t enabled Linux support for Battleye.

I will never go back to WIndows. I love Deadside, but not as much as I hate Windows.

I’m already able to play Dayz without any problems in Nobara. I would love to keep playing Deadside as well.

Honestly yeah, I’ve been hitting every one of their facebook posts calling them out for not doing something as simple as sending an email to the anticheat company.

“When are you going to send the email to BattleEye to allow steam deck and Linux users to play with Proton?
More than 5% of Steam users run Linux. Most companies spend tons on advertising for just a couple percentage points on a spreadsheet while you’re ignoring easy money because you seem incapable of sending an email for free.
This has been brought to your attention repeatedly in the community and you’ve even responded to emails positively saying you’ll look into it, that was last year.
At this point it’s feeling like an anti-consumer practice out of laziness.”

Join me and spam the hell out of their posts until they address it.

Most companies probably including these believe that every Linux user is a hacker, but I will guarantee you If they done an experiment wear, Windows users and Linux users were separate. I reckon there would be more windows users cheating as a percentage than Linux.

The game is already rife with hackers. Linux is not the problem.

The idea that Linux is problem when it comes to hack is a lazy and false excuse for devs to not do extra work or a gross misunderstanding of how technology works as a whole.

They don’t even need to send an email from the official documentation that I linked.
