I am a former Deadside player, mod creator and server owner.
After the release of 1.8 I threw the towl in and deleted everything associated with the game and turned over control of my server to one of the players.
One critical fix you could have done to prevent mod updates/deletions from breaking host servers would be to allow clients to download mods from the server they are connecting to vs the Steam Workshop. Then allow only host server access to the Workshop. This simple fix would greatly streamline the flow of the game for server operators and players.
As a server operator I was sick and tired of having to flush my workshop files and connect to me server daily just to verify everything was in working order.
As a player I was sick and tired of being unble to connect to a server I had invested much time into, only to be locked out and have to find a new server.
Best of luck to you guys, you’re really going to need it to save Deadside from the grave.
