Dear Deadside Community Team,
I am contacting you to report conduct that, in my view, does not align with the role of a Community or Server Promoter and that I experienced as burdensome in my capacity as a server administrator.
On December 27, 2025, during the period from approximately 3:00 PM in the afternoon until the late evening/night, a public discussion took place on the official Deadside main Discord, involving the users Leckerface and TheBigMac, both holding Community/Server Promoter roles.
Prior to the situation, TheBigMac had enabled the use of emojis again in the respective channel. Within this context, I reacted to a message from Leckerface with a single neutral emoji (🥛 milk emoji).
This reaction contained no additional text, was not intended to be offensive, and was fully within the scope of the chat functions that had just been re-enabled.
Following this, the emoji reaction was interpreted as a personal attack. This led to a public discussion in which statements and wording were used that implied “checks,” possible reviews, or consequences. Among the expressions used were phrases such as “small check,” “not a threat, just a fact,” as well as other ironic or sarcastic remarks.
The wording and public tone felt intimidating and demeaning to me and publicly questioned my actions as an administrator. Regardless of intent, these statements created the impression of authority or influence that, to my understanding, does not fall within the responsibilities of a Community or Server Promoter.
I would also like to point out that in other chat threads within the same Discord, significantly more problematic emoji reactions and derogatory depictions (including references to wheelchair-related imagery and other clearly negative emojis) had previously occurred without any apparent moderation intervention.
Against this background, the strong reaction to a single neutral emoji appeared disproportionate and inconsistent compared to previously tolerated behavior.
Additionally, at the same time as this public discussion, TheBigMac repeatedly joined my private Discord server without clearly communicating any intent to play (PvE or PvP).
This occurred despite multiple inquiries and despite being kicked beforehand, after which the user rejoined again. The temporal connection between the public discussion on the main Discord and the repeated presence on my server reinforced the impression of public pressure and felt additionally burdensome.
I would like to emphasize that my intention is not to seek sanctions against individuals.
Rather, my goal is a clear clarification of the tasks, authority, and boundaries of the Community/Server Promoter role, as well as a consistent and transparent moderation approach, particularly regarding the use of emojis and public communication on the official Deadside Discord, in order to prevent similar situations in the future.
The relevant chat logs should be traceable within the official Discord based on date, time, and channel.
Thank you for your time and for reviewing this matter.
Kind regards,
Volkmar Walter
Server Administrator
